Dr. Sarah Bohyun Lee, DMD, CAGS
As a magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, I received a degree in the Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) and was honored with induction to the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the national honorary society serving the field of dentistry). Then, I completed the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Advanced General Dentistry at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Thereafter, I have stayed in the Boston area, practicing recently with Dr. Mark Beal at his private practice on Newbury Street in Back Bay as a cosmetic and general dentist prior to founding Charles Street Dental. Currently, I am also teaching at BU Dental School as a clinical professor.
As passionate as I am about my career in dentistry, I actually started my career in corporate finance after earning a degree in accounting. I left my position as a risk manager at a global banking group, HSBC, to pursue a career in dentistry. What helped me make this bold switch in my career was my early exposure to healthcare and my passion for touching people’s lives on an individual basis as a daughter of an OBGYN and a pharmacist. Within the field of healthcare, I was particularly drawn to dentistry because of its emphasis on hand-eye coordination and fascinating combination of art, science, and medicine – all of which are my strengths and lifetime interests.
Thanks to my experience as a career switcher, I define my principles in dentistry, as well as my life more broadly, with curiosity, open-mindedness, resilience, optimism, and humility. With a specialty in cosmetic dentistry, I strive to provide the highest level of care, approaching each of my patients with a personalized plan. My unique dental philosophy draws primarily from the concept of conservative and minimally invasive dentistry. I take great pride in paying attention to each patient’s unique needs, optimizing treatment for them, and creating the brightest smiles with the safest technique.
I stay current with the latest clinical knowledge, biomaterials, and technology by continuously broadening my expertise as a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS), the American Academy of Clear Aligners (AACA), and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).
When I am away from my loved practice, I am an avid supporter of classical music and arts and enjoy spending time with my husband and a teenage son, traveling, biking, golfing, skiing, and playing board games together.
